Our University Designates the 2025–2026 Academic Year as the “Year of Water”

Dear OzU Members,

In line with the nationwide Water Efficiency Mobilization launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Water Efficiency Regulation published in December 2024, all institutions in Türkiye are expected to take an active role in protecting and managing water resources efficiently.

As sustainability is one of our core values, our University has officially designated the 2025–2026 academic year as the “Year of Water.” This decision goes beyond fulfilling our regulatory obligations and serves as a significant step toward contributing to raising social awareness and leaving a livable planet for next generations.

Highlights of the Year of Water:

• Completion of the compliance and certification process for the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System
• Campus-wide implementation of the Water Efficiency Action Plan
• “Journey of Water” seminars and site visits to water treatment facilities
• Water-themed content and project development with the participation of our students
• Expanding water-themed content across digital screens, LMS, myOzU, and social media channels,  
• Promoting personal awareness among students through QR codes and an water footprint calculator
• Water conservation training programs for faculty, staff, students, and on-campus business/subcontractor personnel 

Expected Outcomes:

• Increased individual and institutional awareness among all university stakeholders
• Achievable and measurable water savings across the campus
• Increased visibility of our university on national and international platforms
• Contribution to broader social awareness on sustainable water use 

Water is the most critical resource of the future. Through our year-round initiatives, our university aims to raise awareness not only within our campus but also across society at large.
